Description: Why not get hands on with some Halloween kitchen science this season! Join Greg and Maddie as they make 'TROLLS BRAIN JUICE' and do an awesome colour changing science! All you need for this experiment is a couple of slices of red cabbage, some hot water, household liquids/powders and a grown-up to help you! This 'Let's Go Live' clip was originally part of our POTIONS episode from MAGIC WEEK! You can watch the full episode here! youtu.be/uMqJW0SWCLA THE SCIENCE: Red cabbage juice contains a natural pH indicator that changes colour depending on the acidity of the solution. The pigment in red cabbage that causes the red colour change is called anthocyanin. Anthocyanin is a water-soluble pigment also found in apple skins, plums and grapes. Very acidic solutions turn the indicator a red colour, neutral solutions turn the indicator a purple colour, and basic solutions turn the indicator a greenish-yellow colour. To make your own Let's Go Live Trolls Brain Juice Potion (Red Cabbage pH Indicator) you could use: - Red Cabbage - Hot water - Household liquids/powders (We used vinegar, shampoo, bicarb of soda, washing powder, stain removing powder) Extra Resource - edu.rsc.org/resources/making-a-ph-indicator/422.article Get in touch! @maddiemoate @gregfoot LET'S GO LIVE!
